Before Sunset (2003)

Okay let’s get this straight, this film has nothing in it.

It is the second act in a full feature. Yet watching it is more entertaining than many second acts out there. A reunion after ten years, plus the reveal from the prequels ending. It’s that middle piece between two corner pieces in a jigsaw, connecting the entire image.

We learn about how after many years of growing with the characters that their central goals and ideals are still upheld – just like ourselves. And with much self reflection, it opens the question of ‘what if?’ which I think is the trilogy’s aim to convey.

A three part story to tell you that this is the opportunity, this is your chance to seize it, and this can be the result. It doesn’t promise the outcome to be rosy, but assures you that it will be bumpy if it’s worth it.
